Siena is the home of the Palio horse race. The old town centre is a superb example of medieval architecture and it has been included on the World Heritage List by UNESCO.

In the City Museum on Piazza del Campo, there are frescos by Ambrogio Lorenzetti showing The Allegory of Good and Bad Government, frescos by Domenico Beccafumi depicting scenes from Roman history, and sculptures that were produced by Jacopo della Quercia for the fountain in Piazza del Campo. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the city if you climb the 400 steps of the adjacent “Mangia” Tower.
